DrawPen is a desktop application that operates locally on your device. It does not replace your presentation software; instead, it provides a simple annotation layer that works on top of any application you are using.

Yes. DrawPen is distributed free of charge and is fully open source under the MIT license.

DrawPen is available on macOS, Windows and Linux. Installers can be downloaded from GitHub Releases or installed via supported package managers such as Homebrew or Scoop.

Yes. The application includes a settings interface where global activation shortcuts and tool-specific keybindings can be customized.

All bug reports and feature requests are managed through GitHub Issues. Open a new issue in the DrawPen repository and include a concise description and, if relevant, reproduction steps.

Download your platform’s installer from GitHub Releases. macOS users may install the Homebrew cask, Windows users may use Scoop, and all platforms support manual installation.

Use CMD/CTRL + SHIFT + A to toggle the annotation overlay on or off.

The application provides Pen, Shapes, Text, Highlighter, Laser and Eraser tools. Each tool can be activated using number-key shortcuts.

Use the provided controls to switch between available colors and modify the stroke thickness.

Press CMD or CTRL + K to remove all annotations from the overlay.

Yes. Press CMD or CTRL + E to open a blank whiteboard canvas for free-form drawing.

Yes. DrawPen operates using a transparent overlay that appears above all other windows.

At the moment, annotations can be saved only by using your operating system’s screenshot functionality. Additional export options may be introduced in future versions.

Settings allow configuration of shortcuts, color schemes, stroke widths, interface elements, toolbar placement and other drawing preferences.
